F-1 Student Visa
Information
ILI Maryland is authorized by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security to enroll F-1 student visa holders. We guide you through every step of the visa process — from receiving your I-20 to stepping off the plane in Maryland.
Your F-1 Visa Journey
Apply to ILI
Submit your application for the Intensive English Program (IEP). Our admissions team will review your application and issue an acceptance letter.
Receive Form I-20
Once accepted, we issue your Form I-20 — the Certificate of Eligibility for Nonimmigrant Student Status. This document is required for your F-1 visa application.
Pay SEVIS Fee
Pay the I-901 SEVIS fee ($350 for F-1 students) online at fmjfee.com. Keep your receipt — you must bring it to your visa interview.
Complete DS-160
Fill out the DS-160 online nonimmigrant visa application at ceac.state.gov. Print the confirmation page with the barcode.
Schedule Interview
Schedule your visa interview at the nearest U.S. embassy or consulate. Wait times vary by location — book as early as possible.
Attend Interview
Bring all required documents: passport, I-20, DS-160 confirmation, SEVIS fee receipt, photo, proof of ties to your home country, and proof of financial ability.
Arrive in Maryland
After receiving your visa, travel to the U.S. up to 30 days before your program start date. We offer airport pickup — arrange at least one week in advance.
What to Bring to Your Visa Interview
The U.S. visa officer will want to verify your identity, your intent to study, and your ability to support yourself financially. Being organized and prepared is the best way to make a strong impression.
Transferring to ILI Maryland
Already studying at another U.S. school and want to transfer to ILI? Our team makes the process straightforward. We'll coordinate with your current school to transfer your SEVIS record and issue your new I-20.
